We are pleased to announce the call for the Global Hope Scholarship for Fall 2025.
Please see details of the scholarship below and apply within the designated period.
Furthermore, please read ALL THE ATTACHMENT FILES CAREFULLY to prevent any confusion or disadvantages.
1. Global Hope Scholarship
This scholarship is given by the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation to foster outstanding graduate students from developing countries that have the potential to become global leaders.
2. Eligible Applicants (must meet all the below requirements, KGSP students NOT applicable)
- Academic status (anyone under this category):
- Undergraduate students newly admitted to Seoul National University for Fall 2025
- Currently enrolled undergraduate students at SNU
- Graduate students newly admitted to SNU for Fall 2025 (Master’s, Doctoral, or Combined)
- Currently enrolled graduate students (Master’s, Doctoral, or Combined Master’s & Doctorate)
- Nationality: Must hold citizenship from a country listed on the DAC List of ODA Recipients (see attached list)
- Financial Status (Undergraduate only): Must not be receiving any other scholarship that includes a tuition waiver
- Language Requirement: Must hold a valid TOPIK score of level 2 or above
3. Candidate(s) to be selected: 1 person
4. Scholarship Benefits
▶Undergraduate
- Full tuition waiver
- Monthly stipend (KRW 800,000 each month)
▶Graduate
- Study Allowance (maximum KRW 5,000,000 each semester)
5. Scholarship Period (supported within the normative period)
- Bachelor’s degree program: maximum 8 semesters
- Master's degree program: maximum 4 semesters
-Doctoral degree program: maximum 6 semesters
-Combined Master’s & Doctorate program: maximum 8 semesters
6. Required Documents
- Please refer to the ‘Application Checklist’ of the attached application form (1st page)
7. Deadline:
- Submission to OIA by an electronic official document from the applicant’s college by July 11th, 2025
1) Submit required documents to your designated college’s administration office (see list below for details)
2) Please contact the administration office of your designated college regarding submission deadlines to your college’s administration office.
* Important: Early submissions are strongly recommended so that the college’s administration office can prepare to submit your documents by an official document to the OIA.
8. Final Selection & Interview
- Document screening will be conducted by the SNU Office of International Affairs.
- Recommended candidates will be interviewed by the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation.
- Interview Period: August 2025 (in-person)
- Final Result Announcement: August 2025 by email
(Only successful candidates will be notified.)
9. Scholarship Continuity Assessment: At the end of each semester, the scholarship student's academic status is checked to determine whether or not to continue to receive the scholarship. All scholarship recipients must meet the below conditions to maintain the scholarship.
▶Undergraduate scholarship recipients:
Must maintain GPA of 2.7/4.3, AND
must be a holder of a TOPIK score of level 3 after 2 semesters has passed as a scholarship recipient
must be a holder of a TOPIK score of level 4 after 4 semesters has passed as a scholarship recipient
must be a holder of a TOPIK score of level 5 after 6 semesters has passed as a scholarship recipient
▶Graduate scholarship recipients:
Must maintain GPA of 3.0/4.3, AND
must be a holder of a TOPIK score of level 3 after 2 semesters has passed as a scholarship recipient
must be a holder of a TOPIK score of level 4 after 4 semesters has passed as a scholarship recipient
must be a holder of a TOPIK score of level 5 after 6 semesters has passed as a scholarship recipient
