The Ministry of Law is conducting a research project regarding policies concerning foreign STEM human resources.
Professor Oh Jeong-eun of Hansung University, the primary investigator, will be conducting an FGI(Focus Group Interview) with STEM graduate students of SNU.
The research project is part of the Ministry's efforts to propel immigration policies such as granting permanent residency and/or dual nationalities to STEM graduate students immediately after their graduation. Through this interview, we would like to gather insight from students about satisfaction with Korean life, employment and settlement intentions after graduation in Korea, expected difficulties in settling in Korea, and the visa fast-track system(by the Ministry of Law, this system makes it easier for international students to obtain visas by reducing the time and process it takes to obtain permanent residency or Korean citizenship). 법무부 과학기술 외국인력 정책 관련 연구과제를 수행중이신 한성대학교 오정은 교수님께서 우리 학교 이공계 대학원생들과 FGI(포커스 그룹 인터뷰)를 진행하고자 합니다.
해당 연구 과제는 법무부에서 국내 이공계 석박사과정을 밟는 외국인 유학생들에게 졸업 직후 영주권, 복수국적을 부여하는 등의 비자 관련 정책을 추진하기 위한 노력의 일환입니다. 이번 인터뷰를 통해 학생들로부터 한국생활 만족도, 졸업 후 한국 취업 및 정주 의향, 한국정주 시 예상되는 어려움, 비자 패스트트랙 제도(유학생 비자를 소지한 이공계 대학원과정 외국인 유학생들이 영주권 또는 한국국적을 취득하기까지 소요되는 시간을 줄이고 진행단계를 간소화하여 비자 취득을 더욱 용이하게 하는 법무부 제도) 등에 대한 의견을 얻고자 합니다. 학생들의 많은 참여 부탁드립니다.
