We are glad to inform you that registration to our summer academic program 2019 Barcelona International SummerSchool (BISS) will open on January 15. We are glad to share that first edition of the program in 2018 was a successful venture, with over 200 students participating, half UPF students, half international students. International students came from 16 different countries.
Now, we have renovated the academic offerings and the BISS 2019 catalogue is available on our website and also attached for your consideration. Students can choose among 27 courses taught in English or Spanish. These courses deal with current topics and are designed to be innovative both in content and methodology. This is the reason why all courses have an applied component with workshops, activities, visits, laboratory work or in situ interpretation, which enables learning beyond the classroom. To the courses in Social Movements, Environment, Gender Politics, Big Data, Humanities or New Frontiers in Biology we are now adding others on Artificial Intelligence, Migration, Quantum Mechanics, Philosophy of Law or Digital Marketing.
The schedules and calendars (from 1 to 26 July) are based on modules, so that students have the flexibility to combine courses of 4, 2 or 1 week. Remember that the BISS is located in the city of Barcelona and all courses will take place at the Ciutadella Campus, creating a vibrant and motivating environment for participating students.
