According to the official decision made by the Korean Ministry of Justice on Feb. 3, the Korean government has decided to enforce border control measures in order to avert the further advance of the novel coronavirus into South Korea.
All non-Korean travelers coming from or through China’s Hubei province will be denied entry starting from Feb. 4, and there will be some additional security measures for travelers from other regions of China. Please see below for details.
1. If your passport was issued in Hubei province(湖北), you may not be allowed into the country.
2. Korean visas approved by the South Korean Consulate General in Wuhan will be temporarily rendered ineffective, regardless of whether the passport was issued in Hubei.
3. All non-Korean travelers will be required to confirm whether they have been to Hubei over the past 14 days at the time of ticketing, and may be denied during the departure process. If not, upon arrival in Korea, you will be required to fill out and present a health check form to the quarantine office. During the quarantine process, you may be denied entry into the country. Through further verification process following entry, any foreigners who are found to have presented false information on their health or travel history will be deported and may be denied entry in the future.
4. Travelers coming from all regions of China will be assigned separate arrival gates and will be led to the designated quarantine inspection area. All operation of automatic immigration checking systems for foreigners will be halted. All foreigners arriving in the country must undergo a screening interview for the time being.
Issuing a Korean visa from any Korean consulate in China may become difficult and you may be asked to follow new procedures.
