The University of Leicester’s Centre for International Training and Education will be running its exciting collection of International Summer Programmes.
Our 3-week programmes combine general and academic English classes with subject-specific content, as well as providing a varied social programme where students from across the courses will meet and socialise together.
Students from partners institutions will benefit from the partnership fee of £1850.
ADVANCED ENGLISH FOR ENGINEERS AND CHEMIST 3 - 19 FEBRUARY 2020
This course is aimed at Engineering and Chemistry students currently on their second or third year of study. The Advanced English course is ideal for Engineering and Chemistry students and professionals to increase their subject knowledge, academic English and work-related English. Participants on this programme are required to have an English level equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
ENGLISH FOR BUSINESS 13 - 31 JULY 2020
This course is ideal for students who want to develop their English use in a business context. As well as everyday and academic English classes, students get the chance to hone their commercial skills through a practical project.
The course also includes site visits to local businesses to gain an understanding of business practice in the UK and a taster seminar by a lecturer from the School of Business. Participants
on this programme should have an English level equivalent to IELTS 4.5.
ENGLISH FOR LAW 13 - 31 JULY 2020
Immerse yourself in the British Legal System with seminars on Company and Human Rights Law. Visit important legal institutions, such as the Houses of Parliament,
Crown Court and Magistrates Court.
The English for Law International summer Programme is ideal for students who want to improve their English, with a focus on the legal profession. Participants
on this programme are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
ENGLISH FOR HUMANITIES 3 ? 21 AUGUST 2020
Learn from leading University academics, with particular focus on Shakespeare and the discovery of King Richard III’s remains by the University of Leicester.
The main aim of this three week course is to help participants improve their general and academic English. In addition, students will develop their knowledge
surrounding Humanities and gain an insight to life in the UK. Participants on this programme are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 5.0, or equivalent.
LEICESTER DISCOVERY 3 ? 21 AUGUST 2020
This course is aimed at students with an intermediate level of English. You will gain new English language and academic skills whilst learning about British
life and culture. Experience the life of a student at a British university.
Participants on this programme are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 4.0, or equivalent.
ENGLISH FOR ENGINEERS 03 ? 21 AUGUST 2020
Experience studying in the engineering department at the University of Leicester. This course includes practical experiments in laboratories. The English for Engineers International Summer Programme is aimed at engineering students and professionals, of all disciplines, to improve their English.
Participants on this programme are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 4.5, or equivalent.
ENGLISH FOR CHEMISTS 03 -21 AUGUST 2020
Experience studying in the chemistry department at the University of Leicester. This course combines seminars, lectures, workshops and sessions in chemistry
laboratories.
The main aims of the course are to develop participants’ ability to communicate when using English in a chemistry context and to allow students to experience what is like to study chemistry in a British University. Participants are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
ENGLISH FOR MATHEMATICS 03 ? 21 AUGUST 2020
The English for Mathematics International Summer Programme aims to give students an insight to modern mathematics and actuarial science taught and researched
at the University of Leicester. The technical content of the Summer Programme will be structured as standalone seminars and lectures.
For instance, you will work with academics on topics such as the mathematics of Artificial Intelligence, the use of mathematics in actuarial science, the application
of rigour in numerical modelling, and more. Participants on this programme are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 4.5, or equivalent.
ENGLISH FOR MEDICS 2 ? 20 MARCH 2020 and 3 ? 21 AUGUST 2020
The English for Medics International Summer Programme is ideal for medical students and health professionals who want to improve their English in a hospital
or medical setting. The course has run for over over fifteen years. Participants on this programme are expected to have a minimum English level of IELTS 4.5, or equivalent.
You will visit local health facilities, such as a general practitioner’s surgery and a hospital. For this course you will learn about the UK health system
and meet British medical professionals. Your classes will take place in the George Davies Centre, winner in the prestigious 2018 Passivhaus awards. Please note, there are no ensuite rooms available for the Spring session.
