We are pleased to announce the call for Silk-Road Scholarship Fall 2025. Please find the detailed information about the scholarship below and apply within the designated period.

1. Silk-Road Scholarship

The Silk-Road Scholarship Program, jointly funded by the SBS Foundation and Seoul National University, was established in Fall 2009. This esteemed program is designed specifically for students aspiring to study humanities and social sciences. Students from countries located along the Silk-Road are invited to apply. We believe that educating and training scholars in fields related to Korean humanities and social sciences is crucial for expanding the international base of Korean studies and strengthening the global competitiveness of Korean education and research. This program aims to:

  • Expand the field of humanities, which has often been underfunded due to the development of technological fields.
  • Support the education and research of international students.

 

2. Eligible Applicants (Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:)

- Status: Graduate students who have been admitted to Seoul National University for the Fall 2025 semester

- Nationality: Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Yemen, Iran, Türkiye, Egypt, Ethiopia, Hungary, Russia, Azerbaijan

- Major: Departments related with Humanities or Social Sciences (including Korean Language, History, Culture, Politics, and Economics)

3. Number of Candidates to be Selected: To be determined (○ persons)

 

4. Scholarship Benefits

- Full tuition waiver, Study Allowance (KRW 600,000 monthly)

- Round-trip airfaire

5. Scholarship Period (supported within the normative period): maximum 4 semesters

 

6. Required Documents

- Application form (use attached form)

- Consent to Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personal Information (use attached form)

- Self-Introduction and Study Plan

- Academic Transcript and Graduation Certificate (Doctoral degree students must submit both Bachelor’s and Master’s certificates)

- If applicable: Work certificate, Language certificate, and other supporting documents

 

7. Deadline

- Submission to OIA by an electronic official document from the applicant’s college by July 30th, 2025

1) Submit the required documents to your designated college’s administration office.

2) Please contact the administration office of your designated college regarding their submission deadlines.

* Early submissions (before July 28th) are strongly recommended to allow the college’s administration office sufficient time to prepare and submit your documents officially to the OIA.

 

8. Final announcement of results: Early August 2025 to be announced by e-mail (only those who passed the final screening will be contacted)
