HKU (Hong Kong University) Summer Programme 2014

Here are some highlights of HKU programmes that will draw the interest and attention of students.

 

 

 

Effective English Summer Programme (Experience HK & Oxford) (6 HKU Credits)

 

Programme consists of two components:

 

Part A:  A three-week programme – Faculty of Arts, the University of Hong Kong

Course:  English for Effective Communication in Business and Social Contexts

This advanced speaking skills course provides students with the opportunity to enhance their competency in English at a tertiary level while experiencing the unique multicultural environment of the University of Hong Kong.  In addition to taking this credit-bearing course, students will be invited to participate in a range of social activities through which they will discover one of Asia’s most exciting cities.

 

Part B:  A ten-day programme – Hertford College, the University of Oxford

The ten-day programme takes place at Hertford College, part of the University of Oxford.  After studying at HKU, students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate what they learned in the UK.  Students’ presentation skills and English writing skills will be enhanced through immersion in British culture.  Students will experience the university culture of the University of Oxford and enjoy the scholastic atmosphere of Oxford.

 

This course is open to undergraduate students from Mainland China and overseas universities.

 

Date:  14 July – 13 August  (3 weeks in HK + 10 days in Oxford)

Programme Fee:  HK$46,000 (includes all tuition fees, accommodation, networking events and social activities in HKU and at Hertford College.  Participants are responsible for purchasing their own tickets to the UK.)

Early Bird Discount:  HK$42,000 for fees submitted by 28 February 2014.

 

International Business Management and Entrepreneurship Summer Series (Non credit bearing)

Part A – International Business Management (The University of Hong Kong)

In this unique two-week programme, students will learn about stakeholders and decision making in a global business environment, International HR Management and Marketing Strategies and the general impacts of globalization on international trade. In addition to studying the programme, students will spend additional time in Shanghai or the University of Cambridge – Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning undertaking a residential course.

Part B – Residential Programme (Choose either 1 or 2)

1.        Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation – Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, The University of Cambridge.  After studying for two weeks at HKU, students will be given the opportunity to learn how to develop entrepreneurial skills, stimulate creative thinking and nurture innovation to enhance business development in a ten-day course at the University of Cambridge and enjoy the scholastic atmosphere of Cambridge.

2.       International Business Management in Shanghai.  After studying two weeks at HKU, students will participate in the ten-day course in Shanghai.  Through a series of lectures and visits to multi-national corporations, students will actively participate in discussion on critical global issues and financial development.  Professors from Mainland Chinese universities will also share their insights on China Studies with the participants.

 

Date:  7 – 30 July 2014 (2 weeks in HK and either 10 days in Cambridge or Shanghai)

Programme Fee: HK$46,000 (Application Deadline – 15 March 2014); HK$42,600 (Early Bird – 28 February 2014)
